Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but not all frozen breakfast foods are healthy. According to Catherine Gervacio, RDN, registered dietitian and nutrition writer for Living. Fit, most frozen breakfast sandwiches, and pastries are high in unhealthy fats and added sugar. These fats can raise bad cholesterol levels and increase the risk of heart disease. Excessive sugar consumption can lead to weight gain, insulin resistance, and other health issues. Sodium is another nutrient you have to be concerned about, as it’s often added to frozen foods because it acts as a flavor enhancer as well as a preservative to extend shelf life. Some frozen breakfast items, like breakfast burritos and sandwiches, can contain high levels of sodium to act as a preservative and enhance flavor.

Here are the 13 unhealthiest frozen breakfast foods that you may want to avoid:

  1. Jimmy Dean Bacon Breakfast Bowl
  2. Bob Evans Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit Singles
  3. Hot Pockets Applewood Bacon, Egg & Cheese
  4. Jimmy Dean Meat Lovers Breakfast Burritos
  5. Amy’s Breakfast Scramble
